1. Do I need experience to join a class?

Not at all! Our beginner-friendly classes are designed to help you ease into Jiu Jitsu at your own pace.


2. What should I expect in my first class?

You’ll start with a warm-up, learn basic movements and techniques, and have a chance to practice with a partner in a controlled setting.


3. Do I need a gi (uniform)?

No, for your first class, comfortable workout clothes are fine. If you decide to continue, we can help you get the right gear. If you choose to come to a Gi class, we’ll have one available for you to borrow during your trial.


4. How do I prepare for class?

Make sure you’re well-hydrated, have clean nails, and remove any jewelry before training.


5. Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! We love when people train together—just have them sign up for a free trial too.


6. What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that focuses on grappling, ground control, and submissions. It allows a smaller person to defend against a larger opponent using leverage, technique, and strategy.


7. Do I need to be in shape before I start?

Not at all! Many people begin Jiu Jitsu to get in shape. You’ll naturally build strength, flexibility, and cardio as you train.


8. Is Jiu Jitsu safe?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. We teach students to train respectfully, understand the importance of tapping, and communicate with partners. Coaches closely supervise every class.


9. Do you offer classes for kids?

Yes! We have programs for ages 3–5, 6–8, and 9–13. Kids learn self-defense, discipline, confidence, and teamwork in a fun, safe environment.


10. How many times per week should I train?

Beginners usually start with 2–3 classes per week. As you progress, 3–5 times per week is common. Consistency is key!


11. Do you offer Strength & Conditioning classes?

Yes. We offer Strength and Conditioning sessions designed to build power, endurance, and injury prevention alongside Jiu Jitsu. We offer this 3x a week. Check the schedule for more information!


12. Do you offer free trial classes?

Yes! New students can pick up a 3-day trial for free to see if it’s a good fit before joining.


13. What memberships do you offer?

We have memberships for individuals, kids, and families, along with drop-in passes. Go to the "Membership" tab for more information.


14. What should I bring to class?

A water bottle, workout clothes (or gi/rash guard if you have them), and a positive attitude!


15. How do I get started?

Easy:

  2. Arrive 10–15 minutes early.
